Users review: Tim Burton is probably one of the best choice to direct a dark shadows movie. Hes always good at making dark, gothic film and Everyone's expecting it to be something like Sweeney Todd and Sleepy Hollow. Instead, it is a hybrid of Corpse Bride and Beetlejuice. It begins with a decent gloom but the rest is scattered with groovy music and colorful images. But it may not be a problem. It's actually pretty good to regain 70s. The main problem is the plot development. Fun but also disappointing. It look promising at first. Tim Burton uses his campy management style that made the internal fascinating. They get silly when Barnabas returns from the grave. Examine changes in his prayers. Its quite funny and adorable. There's good character development in this that made it fun. Johnny Depp gives a nice performance as Barnabas Collins. Eva Green is quite intimidating as Angelique. Jackie Earle Haley, Helena Bonham Carter is extra comic relief. Chlorobenzyl? Moretz is always good to bad girl roles.Theres a lot of fun going on, but in the end, the experience feels like somethings missing. It could have been an interesting story, but it ends pretty lazy. There are a few twists that arent fooled stable. At least there is something good in the film. The production design is quite nice and sometimes unlikely colorful. Postmodern music is often played as did Danny Elfman music score difficult to notice. But this movie deserves cant fix storytelling.Dark Shadows is undeniably fun and nothing else. There are things that could be better. I do not think the look is colorful Groovy problem. It just needs a better ending that gives texture to the story. People can still give it a try for her camp. Theres real vampire here is nothing like our modern vampires. Dark shadow is not bad. Its just unsatisfactory. It has color, life and all, but what is lacking is a proper plot development. |
