Users review: I was drawn to this film with a bit of fear, based on the trailer and thought that sitting through another predictable Hollywood summer blockbuster Sci-Fi. It is Guillermo del Toros last thing that got me over the threshold (Cronos, Pans Labyrinth) is. What I got was a feast for the eyes and ears, which draws inspiration from almost all popular international genre of Hong Kong martial arts film Gothic horror and Japanese anime, and then add a unique feeling of directors with a unique vision that I know how to lead the way large. He knows how to stretch credibility beyond our borders and make it work with a great cast of character actors add to the strong chemistry between the three leads, Hunnam, Elba, and Rinko Kikuchi (very strong performance). Remember all those Japanese monster pictures where big fish out of the sea and cut into Tokyo? Remember Tell your friends? (The film explains that one) Roll All these modern effects and Guillermo del Toros whimsical design sense and then tell yourself, let's get this one really over and youve got the Pacific Rim. As an action movie, the first shot that never stops or slows down. The scene with the girl in Hong Kong (I think) is scary and unique part of the signature of Del Toros - (she understands children and violence). The movie does not seem Avengers sedate.Besides very entertaining, good old fashioned monster movie, Pacific Rim is a tribute to the strength of international cinema, including artists and production teams from every part of the world. I think this will be a huge international hit.
